Individual Booking Form for House Programme (Word)

14-18 July 2008
Led by Dr Anne Murphy & The Revd Mary Stokes
Total cost: £190

This Retreat reflects on themes from Christian life and spirituality, using selected pieces from the repertoire of sacred vocal/choral music both traditional and contemporary. The practical singing sessions each day will have a spiritual objective, namely, to nourish and support us in our time of prayer, reflection and meditation. The themes will include:

  • A Beginning of Song; A Beginning of Praise
  • No End of Singing; No End of Praise
  • No End of Remembering
  • Our Father's House
  • The Joy of the Pilgrim
  • In Paradisum: The Sound of the Golden Harp

While no formal musical expertise is required, some experience of choral singing is expected; an ability to read music will be an advantage. If you love singing and church choral music, and have a joyful heart, we invite you to join us to 'Sing Alleluia!'

Staff will be available to welcome you from 3.00 pm on Monday 14th July for tea at 4.00 pm and the Retreat finishes after breakfast on Friday 18th July.

Dr Anne Murphy is a Religious Sister and retired Head of Music at the Mater Dei Institute of Education, University of Dublin. She now devotes herself to working in Retreat Houses, religious communities, parishes and centres of spirituality in the area of Music and Spirituality. Choral music has always been a passion and to 'Sing Alleluia' is her delight!

The Revd Mary Stokes is a retired Angican priest. Her first love has always been Literature and having a degree in English she taught the subject at various levels for many years. She also has an interest in watercolour painting and enjoys travelling to both France and Greece when other commitments allow. In addition she enjoys singing and is a member of her church choir.
