5-day Ignatian Guided Silent Retreat

We are offering on this silent retreat, space and time to talk and to be with God, and the opportunity to talk and be listened to with a companion each day. The Ignatian way of using a scripture passage imaginatively is our usual suggestion, but the aim is to meet pilgrims where they are, and as we can, with what will help. The journey is always between you and your God. It is open to those making their first retreat, as well as others.
You will need to bring your favourite Bible and a notebook or other writing material. The retreat will be silent from after the first meal. There will be a short morning and evening prayer each day, and time to explore the gardens.
Staff will be available to welcome you from 12.00 pm on Monday 17th November for lunch at 1.00 pm and you will depart after lunch on Friday 21st November.
Nan Mumford was born of missionary parents in the Far East and lived there until she was 7 years old. Nan trained as a nurse and worked in this country and later, for a time, in Africa running welfare clinics. For many years a hunger for something more and to grow closer to God led her eventually to the prayer of quiet, and then to retreats and eventually accompanying others through Ignation prayer and spiritual direction. She found this nurturing and rewarding work. She is also involved in counselling, and is a Methodist local preacher.
Sister Catherine O’Neill is a member of the Presentation Sisters. Catherine has been involved in retreat ministry for over 10 years, 5 of which were spent at the Jesuit retreat centre, Loyala Hall.
Alessio Salvadori was born in Italy and then moved t South Africa at an early age. He met his wife Mary here in England after he graduated in the late 60’s to go into teaching. His interest in Spirituality goes back many years and was particularly drawn to Ignation Spirituality. Since he stopped his teaching he has been able to be more involved in companioning others on their spiritual journey.
